The St. Charles Humane Society sponsors many events during the year. 

Rabies Vaccination Day - Sunday April 22, 2012

In April, the St. Charles Humane Society conducts their annual Rabies Vaccination Day.  Qualified veterinarians will be posted at the Bridge Parks on the east and west banks of the river (underneath the Hale Boggs Bridge).   The cost of the vaccination is $10.00 (cash or check only).  Microchipping will also be available at the cost of $20.00 .  Please ensure all dogs are leashed for this event and cats in carriers.  This year, fifty free spay/neuter vouchers  (25 on the westbank, 25 on the eastbank) will be distributed to those pet owners whose pets have not been spay or neutered.   The vouchers will be effective May 1, 2012, to June 30, 2012.  Owners must call the animal shelter to schedule an appointment. 


The Krewe of Muddy Paws - April 14, 2012

In 2011, several ladies in St. Charles Parish formulated the "Krewe of Muddy Paws" to assist other area organizations which are striving to provide care and locate new homes for other deserving animals.  The Krewe of Muddy Paws inaugural parade was April 17, 2011, and we hope to have many more to come.
 
Bark at the Park - December 1, 2012

On the first Saturday of December, the Bark in the Park is held.  This year will be the fourth annual Bark in the Park.  The function was initiated to bring awareness to the community about the care of the animals.  All proceeds are going to the new shelter to purchase medical equipment and care for the animals.  Activities included Santa photos, Zumba demonstration, Pupcake Wars, Johanna's Jazz in Motion, Sheriff's Office K9 Team, Rummage Tent, Pet Adoptions, and more.

Santa Claws- December 8-9, 2012; December 15-16, 2012

Every December, the St. Charles Humane Society sponsors photos with Santa at Petsmart.  The photos cost $10.00 and the picture is framed, so dress up your pet and get their picture taken with Santa.  A percentage of the proceeds is donated to St. Charles Humane Society.

Free Spaying and Neutering 

Fifty free vouchers (25 on the eastbank, 25 on the westbank) will be distributed on Rabies Vaccination Day, Sunday, April 22, 2012, to those pet owners whose pets have not been spayed or neutered.  The vouchers will be effective from May 1, 2012, to June 30, 2012.  Owners will be required to contact the animal shelter to schedule an appointment.
